January 16th

What are you doing today?

After church we will have to figure out if we will do our usual lunch out with friends.
Sundays are hard as I have always heard parents of small children say.
Missing that morning nap makes things a bit more interesting shall we say.
Poor little guy, it's not his fault.

So, back to the lunch dilemma, last Sunday was pretty all around nutso. Lots of crying, hurried eating, not really talking which is why we like to go in the first place.

advice from the trenches?

After lunch either out or home we will probably go to costco.

We're running low on things like:

laundry detergent
dishwasher detergent
olive oil
dried basil

plus I want to look for frozen cantaloupe/honeydew, etc. mix.

Our little guy loves cantaloupe but the fresh ones are no good this time of year.

When does cantaloupe come in season anyway?

Anyone know where to buy it frozen?

And tomorrow night we get to go meet our friends tiny, little newborn, Michael! So exciting!

So, thoughts, comments? What are you doing today?

Kelly

This site http://www.pickyourown.org/ will let you look up growing schedules for your area (also places you can go pick or buy fresh local produce).
Now, with 4 kids (two that take daily naps and we ALL 6 take Sunday naps!) it is stressful for me to eat out on Sunday much. Something like McDOnald's is good. Or other places if we go alone. We used to go eat with about 4 other families on many Sundays. But our five families now include 15 kids and one on the way! With 10 adults too. Not many restaurants can handle that during Sunday after church lunch rush. :-) So going out to eat with another family - most of our friends also have 2 or more kids - we don't all fit at one table, restaurants just don't want lots of kids, it's LOUD, little ones tired...today we came home to a meal in the crock pot. I used my timer portion and had it set for the proper length and then to keep warm. It was perfect!
Enjoy your day!

We've always either gone out to fast food or taken fast food home. Either way, you get home quickly and can still accommodate naps. When we lived in Valera, Emily would frequently fall asleep on the drive home so she'd just eat lunch later, when she woke up. I know it's tough now, but it does get better as they get older!

Hey Kelly! Your little guy is too cute! I've enjoyed catching up on your blog. Sundays are hard on Carson too, and we don't go out to eat very often any more either, it usually doesn't seem worth it on an already busy day, but we do miss that time visiting with people. I think cantalope is usually best in July and August.

Oops, *cantaloupe
Have you considered making your own laundry detergent? It's easy and so much cheaper! I'd be happy to share the recipe if you're interested.
